What version of LyX do you use? There were some fixes for maxima in 2.4.4. LyX 2.5 contains also example file Computer_Algebra_Systems.lyx where we try to track examples what currently works with CAS. If what you need is not there you might want to file a bug with example lyx file showing exact formulas which you would like to work.
