Hello everyone, I'm a new user of LyX. I decided to use it to typeset my final project report for my undergrad degree. The ease of use is great, I had been thinking about using LaTeX for a while and LyX is proving to be a great way to get started.
I read the Tutorial that comes with version 1.1.6fix3 and I have also been reading the User's Guide / Extended Features. The deal is that I still haven't found how to get some parts of the format I need for the report. The formatting rules at the university I attend don't seem to conform to any standard but their own, and they are pretty anal about it. I am using the "Book" class. These are the things I still haven't figured out how to do. If anyone can give me any ideas on any of them that would be great. I was also wondering if it's possible to define a new class for this specific format. Would it be doable by a newbie like myself? Table of Contents 1. I need a different title than the standard "Contents". Can this be done? 2. For the "Part" environment I need to add the text "Part" to the Table of contents entry. 3. How can I make the Bibliography show up in the table of contents? 4. The Appendix titles need to show up in the table of contents (after the Bibliography) but no page numbers to the right. Chapters 5. I need the toplevel environment to be a Chapter (start on a new page, etc.) but the word "Chapter" can't show up in the text. I know I can do this by selecting Chapter*, but then there won't be a ToC entry. The ideal would be to have Chapter behave the way it does, but be numbered like Section is in the Article class. Numbering 6. The page numbering is also picky. There are a couple of pages that go before the ToC (Abstract, Dedicatory, etc.) that should not have page numbers. In fact the page numbering has to start with the first page of the ToC, but the ToC page numbers can't show. Bibliography 7. Again, to go against any widespread standard, the bibliography entries are not to be numbered. It should be nothing but a list of references ordered alphabetically by author's name. Again, TIA to anyone willing to help me out in any of these points. Cheers, -Roberto
