Hi *,

First of all: Thanks for all participating in this petty poll.

As for Oliver's problem regarding viewing threads in email clients I
recommend Netscape 4 which is, of course, available for Macintosh and
Linux, too. It should also run on OS X / Darwin.

One more participant, Vitaly Lipatov (I am sorry that I did not provide
a return address this morning, so your reply twice did not reach the
list), put the following to me:

> I prefer mailing list as long as newsgroup needs on-line...

No problem, you can download newsgroup traffic and store it locally on
your workstation the same way you are reading your mail. In Netscape,
for instance, newsgroups are displayed in the same environment as your
email folders.

> Where is super automatic convertor from newsgroup to mailing list and back?

OpenOffice.org seems to have some problems synchronising it's mailing
lists with the newsgroups on new server news.openoffice.org. So we
should. Could someone check whether this is really as tricky as it
seems?

I would prefer a newsgroup. What's more, I think it would give LyX some
more publicity.

Discussing originally on de.comp.text.tex we should, however, remain in
the English speaking hierarchy of the usenet as most traffic on the list
has come from non-German speaking contries so far.

Juergen.
