two-column mode

Hi

I am writing a book with LATEX. The index is properly made in a two-column mode.
Nevertheless my editor wants the two last columns of the index to end at the same lane 
of the page.

My latex creates the last page like:

A       W
...      ....
B       Z
...      ....
C
...

While my editor wants:

A       V
...      ....
B       W
...      ....
C       Z
...      ....

How can I solve this problem.
