I am running LyX on my Windows XP system through Cygwin and XFree86. I have
attempted to dictate directly into LyX while using Dragon NaturallySpeaking
Preferred, version 5. To my surprise, this almost works, but for the severe
limitation that words with a repeated letter get truncated along with any
words that immediately follow, so that "see the bird" becomes "se", "This
better work" becomes "This bet", and so on. LyX also will not finish words
with apostrophes in them.

I have found that I can actually dictate 'repeated letter words' directly
into Cygwin without any problems, but apostrophes are ignored there.

There was another problem that prevented LyX from starting a new sentence on
the same line, but I solved that by changing the settings in Dragon
NaturallySpeaking so that it would place only one space after a sentence
instead of two spaces.

Does anyone have a suggestion for how to fix this? Or is there a way to copy
words from a Windows program to the clipboard in LyX? I haven't been able to
do this either. Importing a file does not strike me as a very efficient
solution.

I'll be most grateful for any help you can offer.

Thanks,

Kurt Crowder
