Thanks very much. The root of the problem is that notebook2e.sty loads wrisym.sty, which uses the mathematica fonts for maths. Since I'd prefer not to use them, I've gone through and deleted the reference in notebook2e to that. Seems to work OK, though I imagine that if I used some of mathematica more curly notation, I might have a problem. Rod
