You either need to specify QTDIR, or you need to install the Qt dev package.
But I wouldn't bother, the 8.1 compiler is broken anyway. I believe somebody made some 8.1 lyx packages, I suggest you use that

Yeah, maybe I'll try the Suse package. Good grief, I just notived the compiler is broken trying to compile without QT. I had compiled successfully on another Suse 8.1 machine, so at first I was a bit puzzled, but the other machine is updated and this one is not.
