your're right. Theres's probably a problem with the biography style as I pointed out with gerplain. Alternatively I exported the lyx file (using bibliography style gerplain) to tex. run latex once run bibtex run latex twice (error messages, forget it)
I got a dvi file out of that. So it's possible to work with plain until you change the style and get the biography using the style you really want.
