I think, the only thing you should do, is to include the TeX-binaries in your PATH. I also installed TeX Live from the net, but on Fedora Core 1. The installation programme asked me, if I would like to creat links to the binaries, so I did not have to do anything. Though, I did not find g-brief installed, so I had to get it from the net :-).
