Dear all,

Through no fault of my own, lyx has recently been updated to 1.3.4 built
against Qt by my sysadmin. ;o)

Up to now I have been using 1.1.6fix4 (I know, it's been a long time). Now
I've done Edit -> Reconfigure and lyx seems to be up and running, I can
export dvi and all.

I have had the following problem with the key bindings in math mode:

Instead of doing what I am used to when I hit M-m-i, for example for an
integral, lyx inserts "int" as variables, i.e. I can delete i, n and t as
single letters. For M-m-8 lyx inserts "infty" and for M-m-f it inserts
"frac". You see what I mean.

Even when I want a greek symbol and hit M-m-g, lyx inserts "lyxgreek1", this
time in red, and puts me one page upwards in the text. (wtf?)
As it is seen as tex command, I can delete "lyxgreek1" with a single
backspace. I don't know how to use this to produce greek symbols (tried
appending {p} for \pi but that didn't work).

So for now I am reduced to using the point-and-click interface for formulae
(thankfully this works) and just typing \pi if I want a greek letter (since
not all greek symbols are supported by point-and-click and I am dealing with
quantum mechanics, this will be a nuisance).

This does not seem to be a problem with the bind file, since lyx is doing
"sort of" the right thing.

Removing my ~/.lyx directory solved the problem at the price of losing my
personal settings. Perhaps this apparently updrade-related problem would be
worth fixing in future versions of lyx?

Regards,
Andreas
