Here is what I have done: 
1) Use the preview-function in Excel to make a large, nice image of 
your sheet on the screen.
2) Use a image-capture program of some sort (such as Gimp in Linux) to 
capture that large window. Cut away the window-decorations of the 
captuered image, and save it in some image format, such as 
encapsulated postscript, png og gif.
3) insert that image in Lyx, (Insert -> float. Then, in the float 
Insert -> graphics)

There may be more proffesional ways, but this works resonably well.
