Space Above

For a letter that will appear on letterhead I need to make the first 
line of my lyx document begin lower down on the first page so it 
doesn't bump into the letterhead. With the cursor in the first line and 
doing Layout > Paragraph > Spacing, I put 2 inches into Space Above. 
This 2 inches appears on screen but not in the output. What am I doing 
wrong?
