Commands are not that similar to LaTeX and moreover there are many perils
which can bite you. For example (my personal pet peeve), contrary to your
LaTeX experience a space character (asc(32)) on the end of the line IS
significant and when removed (for example, by vim could be set to remove
all '\s*$' and it is default and it is sensible for every other text
document other than .lyx).
