However, I appreciate the suggestion. There is no need to keep the beamer documentations in one directory (assuming a Unix environment.) LyX has the command line option -userdir dir to set a personal user directory for preferences and settings. It defaults to ~/.lyx/ If you copy (or symlink) ~/.lyx to ~/.lyx-beamer you can then place differnt private bind files into each of these directories. (See http://wiki.lyx.org/LyX/KeyboardShortcuts for more info about modifying keybindings.) Starting lyx with lyx -userdir ~/.lyx-beamer will give you the beamer-bindings. (you can even write an alias lyx-beamer="lyx -userdir ~/.lyx-beamer" into your ~/.profile or ~/.bashrc.
