.tex.dep and .tex.dep-pdf files?

  I am curious about two files I find in /tmp/lyxXXXX/lyxXX/ after running
pdflatex on the document: <document>.tex.dep and <document>.tex.dep-pdf.

  What are these files? They don't seem to be needed to assemble the book
from the rest of the TeX output.
