Quick suggestion. It is what I do all the time, with good results:

(1) export as latex
(2) put in a separate directoy all the stuff you need (latex file and bibtex 
files).
(3) install tex4ht
http://www.cse.ohio-state.edu/~gurari/TeX4ht/mn.html
(4) install open office if you don't have already
(5) run tex4ht with a script to obtain an OpenOffice file (oolatex)
(6) from Open office, save as doc or rtf.

ps the reason of a separate directory: tex4ht (oolatex in this case) produces a 
lot of intermediate files. Better keep the original in a separate place.
