In addition to the things already mentioned: pdflatex supports some nifty microtypographical features that latex (and hence dvipdfm) doesn't. Google for "character protusion" and "font expansion". Most recent LaTeX distribution use pdflatex as the default processor anyway (pdflatex can also output dvi). Jürgen
