I am trying to use \label and \ref with tex4ht and the results are not pretty. Tex4ht seems to go into an endless loop and eats up all my processor time. The only way I can find to reference \label is to use \pageref which for some bizarre reason tex4ht will take and uses to generate some seemingly random page number. I really just want to use \label and \ref with the output being something reasonable like a section number. Is this possible?

I am aware of \hypertarget and \hyperlink but having to manage my own cross linking is, well, nuts. The whole point of having word processors is to manage nonsense like this.

So if anyone knows a reasonable way to get \ref and \label working with tex4ht I'd really appreciate your help.

        Thanks,

                Yaron
