Using the native LyX/Mac version (i.e., not X11), I don't get this at
all. The cursor in LyX properly jumps to the appropriate row (though
the screen doesn't move to that row, whether or not the "Cursor follows
scrollbar" option is checked in Preferences > User Interface).

P.S.: I didn't realize Fink was providing a LyX-1.4.0 version for X11.
Why not use the Mac native version?
Because I often use may mac remotely thru an SSH tunnel - aqua apps
can't do that (unless you use vnc or somesuch).
