Thank you, Uwe. Anyway, I get now only two numbers e.g. chnum.eqnum or sectnum.eqnum (according the \numberwithin arguments). In the previous version I had chnum.secnum.eqnum. Do you know where I can get a real documentation for the amsbook class? The installed one does not help... Thanks again Max
