\abstractname failure

In a simple article, I'd like to redefine the fixed text for the 
abstract environment, so that above the text will appear "Summary" and 
not "Abstract".

In the preamble I inserted:


\renewcommand\abstractname{Summary}


I still get "Abstract". Any tips??
