solid program based on latex, small files, recoverable (though I seldom had 
any accisent with it), versatility in appearance of document

a CD life containing all ingrediences needed to write documents, add 
bibliography (pybliographer, Jabref) and figures (xfig, gimp, PyX, 
PSTricks) ...
to allow e.g. coauthors to use the same tools I am using without interfering 
with his/her Betriebssystem (unix/windows/mac..)
