No, I tried it with 1.4.3, too. It works for me with both teTeX 1 and 2 on Solaris, and the latest MikTeX on Windows. The only thing that comes to my mind is that somehow your configuration is screwed up, maybe. When you look at Tools->Preferences->Language, do you see something similar to the attached image? -- Enrico
