Put an "hfill" before and after the graphics, on the same line:
Insert->Special Formatting->Horizontal Fill (Lyx 1.4)
Insert->Special Character->Hfill (Lyx 1.3)

You can also center-align the paragraph containing the graphic (even within a 
float), but I've had fewer problems with the Hfill.
