Yes you can. I have both version installed side by side. To avoid problems install first LyX 1.4.4
using this installer (http://wiki.lyx.org/Windows/LyXWinInstaller):
https://developer.berlios.de/project/showfiles.php?group_id=5117&release_id=12253
and then LyX 1.5.0beta1 using this installer:
https://developer.berlios.de/project/showfiles.php?group_id=5117&release_id=12255
(Perhaps this also works using the official installe but I haven't test this.)
Installing LyX 1.4.4 before 1.5.0beta1 assures that you can update LyX 1.5 later any time without
problems and LyX 1.4.4 will stay stable.
