So I found this:

It should be possible to switch from one mode to another one with these options:

\documentclass[jou]{apa} for the two-column output (txfonts default)
\documentclass[man}{apa} for the manuscript (double-spaced) output
\documentclass[doc]{apa} for regular document (in computer modern)

Where do I implement this in order to switch from journal from manuscript mode
for
example? Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
The stuff in the square brackets is the optional argument. Add it to the corresponding field in Document>Settings, where you choose the class.
