I agree. The bird is good, instantly recognisable and synonymous with LyX. It 
is the LyX brand in that it is unique.

Fiddling with the bird, or inventing another logo is not going to make LyX 
better, and probably won't attract any more people to using it.

Fiddling at the edges is fine........ if there is nothing else which can be 
improved? Some might think LyX is there already? Then I suppose they too will 
think fiddling round is justified?

No way is anything done, old or new going to please everyone.

Just what I reckon.
