I can confirm this for LyX 1.5.4 and my beloved Jed text editor. >From my experience with Jed and clipboard applets as well as skimming some X manuals, I have the impression that it is connected to the existence of 2 different clipboards/selection-schemes in X-Windows. (I might as well write my LyX document in vi :) Most desktop environments offer a "clipboard" application that can help to ease the pain (somewhat). I use xfce and configure the clipboard applet to "separate management of the clipboards". If pasting into LyX fails, I can open the clipboard-list and select the desired entry. After that, a middle click in LyX usually works as expected. Still not as effortless as I wish but miles better than using a file as intermediate... > LyX should be able to use standard X11 selections. Here, some work and some not, so I cannot tell whether the problem is really with lyx or with e.g. Jed. > (without joining lines). This might not be everyones favourite. I would like the default behaviour to resemble LaTeX (and not only LaTeX) conventions that line-breaks are irrelevant but blank lines start a new paragraph. (Maybe one more configuration setting...) > Before I file a bug report does anyone want to share their experiences. Please look for existing (or past) bugs about this topic as well. Günter
