To get French menus, you need to set the enviroment variable "LANG" to "fr_FR". > (Thats how it works on Windows and Linux, don't know about MAC.) > > regards Uwe > > Hello,
On the Mac the update from LyX 1.5.5. to 1.5.6 changes the interface to English generally. In my case from German to English. This didn't happen with the other updates before. So I believe there is something wrong with the installer or the new version. It seems to me there should an easy way to change (to keep!) the interface into the default language of the OS. I've read in the manual that one has to set the environment variable "LANG" but (a) this would require either knowledge of the terminal and UNIX shell or more details as can be found in the customization.lyx help file and (b) I believed this would effect other progamms as well. (Not sure, but afraid) After reinstalling the version 1.5.5 the user interface became German again, but my spellwriting option did not work anymore. It now says: 'Das Rechtschreibprogramm konnte nicht gestartet werden Error: Expected language "de" but got "en".' - Maybe there is something broken after installing version 1.5.6? I'm using Mac OS X Version 10.4.11 on an Intel Mac and I tried the binary version of LyX 1.5.6 which is offered from the LyX ftp Website under <ftp://ftp.lyx.org/pub/lyx/bin/1.5.6/LyX-1.5.6-Mac-Universal.dmg> regards Peter
