Is there a special reason why you do not use LyX's native shaded boxes? (via 
Insert > Box and the box type "Shaded")? The shade color can be altered via 
Preferences > Colors (which is wrong -- should be document-wise -- but 
anyway).

I don't understand.

BGColor    <color>

(where color needs to be a predefined LyX color)
