I am writing a paper that includes several diagrams, each one with a somewhat
lengthy caption. I use pdflatex and produce the images with Inkscape and save
them as pdf. My problem is that the bitmaps Lyx produces to
show the images on screen (NOT on output) are so pixelated that it is
impossible to figure out what's in them, let along figuring out if the image
makes sense in the context, if the caption is correct, etcetera. PDF output is
correct, but it is rather time consuming to switch back on forth between Lyx
and the pdf reader, and distracting too.

Is there anything that can be done to control and, hopefully, improve the
quality of the pdf--> bitmap conversion? A look at the embedded objects manual
did not provide any enlightenment.

Cheers,

S.
