Unfortunately I can only echo Manveru, Excel and OOo graphs are not the
way to go. But if you're in a hurry, it should be fine; just beware of
bitmap graphics. Personally I prefer R.

I wrote mine (master's) in article. As for the first page (logo and
stuff), stole it from the wiki.

If you are debuting with LaTeX, this might be the
simplest choice.
