The Beamer class is very popular for presentations, and it includes the ability to generate handouts, speaker notes etc. You can find the user guide at http://www.ctan.org/tex-archive/macros/latex/contrib/beamer/doc/beameruserguide.pdf. LyX comes with a layout file and a couple of template files for Beamer. /Paul
