This is very, very normal, actually the way to get LyX in different
languages used/recommended long before the UI setting came. 
I use it since years to have an English-speaking LyX for tests/list
postings and a German-speaking LyX for daily work.

I suppose you have (accidentially?) set the UI font
(Werkzeuge>Einstellungen>Aussehen>Bilschirmschriften) to a Greek font
(or Symbol).

Try with a different UI font (I recommend DejaVu).
