I found a solution using tikz: Based on http://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/15990/draw-red-x-over-an-external-image-using-pgf-tikz , I developed the solution attached - as described in the link, the image is placed in a node, and one can draw. The nice thing: the inserting of the picture can be done in LyX! I will look into the pstricks solution, as it sounds also quite easy - could you post a small example?
