I only ran into problems when trying to compile lyx from svn sources.
However, I do not use pacman's texlive distribution. I got used to
manage tex through its own package manager (tlmgr) and bypassed Arch's
own distribution.
So, in short: - pacman's lyx + texlive's own distribution = no
problems (in my case, at least, ymmv).
                  - lyx from sources + texlive's own distribution =
need to get around python2/vs/python3 issue
