Yes.

I don't know how to do it, but you could write a Vim-Language function 
which first replaces all spaces in the search pattern with \_, and 
then performs the search.

I'm not good at the Vim Language and don't have time to do it myself, 
which is too bad because Vim is my Troubleshooter of last resort for 
misbehaving LyX documents, and the functionality you describe would be 
a timesaver, given that in languages like LyX native format and HTML, 
you don't know where the newline will be.
