You should provide some more info, especially the content of the Latex log (Document>Latex Log) You may not have tex installed at all, even though Fedora should have installed it as a prerequisite of lyx (i'm not a fedora user, so I may be wrong. But that is usually the case with other linux distros). Can you check in yum if a package with a name more or less like texlive is installed?
