I am pleased to announce the release of lunzip 1.5.

Lunzip is a decompressor for lzip files. It is written in C and its small size makes it well suited for embedded devices or software installers that need to decompress files but do not need compression capabilities. Lunzip is fully compatible with lzip-1.4 or newer and is able to decompress any lzip file using as little memory as 50 kB.

The lzip file format is designed for long-term data archiving. It is clean, provides very safe 4 factor integrity checking, and is backed by the recovery capabilities of lziprecover.

The homepage is at http://www.nongnu.org/lzip/lunzip.html

The sources can be downloaded from

The sha1sums are:
257e2ee844d1bdf09caf6a331dfedee4ddc734b5 lunzip-1.5.tar.lz
3d9b5140dda5061f928352e505b1f25bfadcdbff lunzip-1.5.tar.gz

This release is also GPG signed. You can download the signature by appending ".sig" to the URL.

Changes in version 1.5:

* The new option "-u, --buffer-size", which activates a "low memory" decompression mode, has been added.

* Copying of file dates, permissions, and ownership now behaves like "cp -p". (If the user ID or the group ID can't be duplicated, the file permission bits S_ISUID and S_ISGID are cleared).

Antonio Diaz, lunzip author and maintainer.
