An obsolete flow control method (only used by DEC AFAIK) using CTL-O (SI) and CTL-N (SO) instead of CTL-S and CTL-Q (DC3 and DC1, AKA XOFF and XON), but SI and SO were mainly used to select alternate character sets in printers.
