Hi Steve,

Check your distro repositories for a package called "screen".  That
should allow your linux machine to act as a client to a remote with
VT100 emulation.

I've used it locally to run hercules (IBM mainframe emulator) on my
linux box, but not to remote hosts.  Hope that works for you.
