Yeah, to get 80x25, you need additional hooks. I have written code for
doing this when I was working on TDock.
Looking at that assembly code, there are 6 hooks to be installed /
uninstalled. But as indicated, this only works with ASCII ... the
graphics routines in the ROM write directly to the LCD driver chips with
no RAM hooks.

Redirecting the output is fairly simple, especially to the printer
port; the trouble is that it's still only 8 x 40.
I played with it years ago but can't find my notes right now; I'll
keep looking...

I do believe it has been done for the parallel port.

I did find a hack from the ROM2 manual, which POKES some
values into RAM. The problem is that it's super delicate, and
if you turn the computer off while the values are changed, you
can't recover without a cold boot. (Don't ask how I know that.)

I think you could achieve that with a little code and
using the hook, yes. But it isn't built in like ...say CP/M.
That would be a good thing to get sorted. Wonder if it
exists?

Has anybody seen a program like this? Is it possible
to hook the $4B44 print routine? Are there any good
examples of talking to the serial port with assembly
language?
