I have been using the equivalent characters for the arrow keys myself. Arrow keys translate as follows CTL-^ [CURSOR UP] UP CTL-_ [CURSOR DOWN] DOWN CTL-\ [CURSOR RIGHT] RIGHT CTL-] [CURSOR LEFT] LEFT
