Hello, I found a copy of wordstar 4.0 for cpm at winworldpc.com, and managed to get it to run in my cpm emulator under Linux. The emulator is actually for z80 opcodes, and I could install it for a vt-100 and it ran fine in the emulator.
But the installed version basically did nothing on the m100, so I suspect that this version is for the z80. Reading a bit of wordstar history at the wordstar.org site things came back to me, and 4.0 actually grew out of Newstar. What I hadn't remembered is the connection with Newstar and George Morrow and a strong z80 influence. So I suspect that wordstar 4.0 wants a z80, which would agree with my results on the emulator (OK) and mine and others experience on the m100 (not so good). winworldpc.com did say that 4.0 wanted a z80, and they also have some links to the wordstar 4.0 manuals, but I couldn't find anything in them that mentioned the requirement for a z80, though there was a reference to possible memory confilcts with zcpr.....
