...you must have mis-read my post. I did say "on a new install of
helios" so the 3.0.3 embedded runtime has not been installed at this point.
Also I have no Help > Installation Details > Installed softwares section
...but I did say when I go to
help -> eclipse market place -> Installed tab
..I get an error.

How do I install maven embedded 3.0.3 in helios?
I have done this previously but cannot now on a new install of helios?
If I go to window -> preferences -> maven -> discovery -> open catalog
(The URL is
http://download.eclipse.org/technology/m2e/discovery/directory.xml)
...I do not see it ?
Also on my installation of helios where I did previously install
embedded 3.0.3 if I go to

"Query failed to complete
MarketplaceDiscoveryStrategy failed with an error
Node not found"
Something amiss here. Any ideas?
