You are importing a project with existing .classpath file that uses JDT classpath variables like M2_REPO or ECLIPSE_HOME. This is not currently supported, please open a bugreport in m2e bugzilla and provide small standalone example project we can use to reproduce the problem. Also consider providing a quality patch with corresponding regression tests. This will really help to expedite the fix ;-)
