This was brought up on cross-project-issues-dev back in 2011 [1] (Vlad was m2e committer at the time).
And since we are on the subject of logging, beware that Mars will have both logback and log4j logging backends installed for majority of m2e users. Log4j is installed as part of egit, so I assume that either m2e or egit logging will be broken in Mars.
