try going into your phone app and press menu. Find settings and explore
the options there. See if there is a setting to turn on the home key to
use for answering calls. I can't remember under what setting it is
under, nor do I know if that is a samsung thing in my case or a ics and
up feature. This might help. if it exists, otherwise I hope someone can
tell you the swipe gesture to answer a call with your phone.
