Hi All, Nebulous Notes, which is a note taking app for iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad that features Dropbox syncing is free for an unspecified limited time. It's normally $2.99. Based on past history, this may only stay free for 24 hours, or at best for the weekend. (And it went free about half a day ago.)
• Nebulous Notes (for Dropbox) by Nuclear Elements http://itunes.apple.com/app/nebulous-notes-for-dropbox/id375006422?mt=8 This app has a few interesting features, including the ability to set up macros to add to your keyboard. Not all of these are accessible, because some of these include additional arrow keys or special character keys that you can add to your virtual keyboard that are not labeled for VoiceOver. However, others of these are labeled, such as the current date, or tab keys. You can check which of these functions get activated in the settings for the app. Most people will not configure this, and just use the app as a note taker. A few of the different features is that this app will sync to any Dropbox folder -- not just a predesignated named folder. However, it only syncs when you specifically perform this function. It is also universal, so it works with both iPhone and iPad. There are also power user functions, such as saving the text with CR+LF (carriage return and line feed) endings for compatibility with notepad on Windows. My guess is that this won't be the preferred note app for most, but some may like it. Travis was asking a few weeks ago whether there was any advantage to using Dropbox in the Notesy discussion thread that Dane started. This would be one (free) app to use to check this out. Also, since Travis still has access to Macs that run Leopard, he can still set up Dropbox with access to the icon on the status bar icon through the window switcher menu (VO+F2) and selecting the "untitled" window. At least, this works with the dmg file for Dropbox on Rose's "Chicks Dig Macs" web site in the software listings of useful apps for the Mac if you use the oldest version under Leopard, and possibly for other versions, too: http://chicksdigmacs.net/ For those wanting to read a comparison of note taking app features for the iPhone, there's a good review by Dr. Drang at his blog, both in February of Simple Note, Plain Text, Elements, and Nebulous Notes, and again later in March of Notesy: • "iPhone notes app comparison" February 21, 2011 http://www.leancrew.com/all-this/2011/02/iphone-notes-app-comparison/ • "Notesy" March 15, 2011 http://www.leancrew.com/all-this/2011/03/notesy/ All of these note taking apps are accessible to VoiceOver, so you can read about the comparisons on a feature basis.
