Hi Christine, 

I'm not an expert on Networking, it's something i need to get a handle on, but 
have you checked the Trash on both machines. I could be wrong, but I think 
Networks on OS X act like bootable volumes, therefore, any files that are 
"deleted" should be safe until the Trash is empty. 

If this fails, there is a hidden dot Trashes folder that may contain the files, 
but I'll send another message on how to access this as I want to be sure I tell 
you correctly.
